Silvia Vacchi

Singing teacher and choir director, Silvia Vacchi was born in Bologna. She grew up in the choral environment and received her first musical teachings from her father, the composer, ethnomusicologist and choir director Giorgio Vacchi. Graduated in Law at the University of Bologna, she then obtained a three-year degree in Choral Conducting and Composition at the Conservatorio G.B. Martini attending the courses of Maestro P.P. Scattolin and L. Lollini. She studied opera singing under the guidance of Giovanna Giovannini and Patrizia Vaccari. She has performed in concerts as a mezzo-soprano in opera productions as well as with various vocal chamber ensembles both in the field of ancient and contemporary music. In addition to her concert activity as a soloist, she has always taught; from the mid-nineties she began her activity as a singing teacher (vocal training, solfeggio, choral singing for children) in various music schools in Bologna and Modena, including Officine Musicali and Du Prè. She has extensive experience as director of children's choirs in schools in Bologna and province. She holds refresher courses for teachers on behalf of the association Musicaper and composes and elaborates choral music. In 1997 she founded the choir "Accanto al Sasso" in Sasso Marconi (BO), whose artistic direction she still deals with. After Giorgio Vacchi's death, in 2008, she took over the leadership of the Stelutis Choir of Bologna, also taking care of the recording of new record projects and of the association's vast cultural activity (children's choir, music literacy courses for adults, instrumental ensemble, concert lessons).
